INTERPLANETARY TRAVEL: WISH OR POSSIBILITY?
Pop culture is filled with movies, songs and content that portray interplanetary travel, is this possibility a mere wish and dream never to be realized or a soon to be reality? Before you answer that, let us first find out more about the gains that nuclear thermal propulsion systems offer, from enhanced astronaut safety to the potential for more frequent launch windows to distant planets, the advantages are numerous.
Our aspirations of terraforming and colonizing planets such as Mars are closer to realization than than ever, getting to the Red Planet could take us 45 days with nuclear thermal propulsion instead of 6 months. This speedup drastically reduces the risk of cosmic radiation and also decreases the need for long life support supplies since the trips are so much shorter.
NASA who're well experienced with deep space exploration and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency(DARPA) with their technology development expertise, will be collaborating with a couple of other companies such as Lockhead Martin(propulsion systems), BWX Technologies(nuclear systems) and General Atomics(fuel) to develop nuclear thermal propulsion technologies that will fuel our probe into uncharted realms of space.
Space exploration is quite intriguing, and at Fortizo Technologies we have keen interest in seeing what materials we may be able to discover through space mining and to sponsor some of our space missions, we have envisioned Fortizo Odyssey, an invisible ship designed for interstellar travel that possesses terraforming as well as von Neuman probe capabilities, and instead of NTP we're employing nuclear fusion based propulsion systems.
